The Road to Emmaus

It can be hard being a Christian sometimes. The promise that is given to us, however, is eternity in the bliss of heaven. Something of that bliss appears in this painting of Jesus meeting the two disciples on the way to Emmaus. The scene is very bucolic, there are no other people or animals getting in the way, it is just Cleopas and his companion, listening to the Lord. Perfection. Yes, being a Christian can be very hard, but if we focus on what Jesus says to us, heaven can, in a manner of speaking, come to us even in the difficulties that we face.

A Short Prayer

Dear Lord

Help me.

Help me to listen to you,

to focus on you,

to show heaven in my life now

by being faithful to you.
