Contemplative Art: St. Pier Giorgio Frassatti

This page is dedicated to Catholic content of a different kind: art. The internet is a wonderful tool but browsing and scrolling isn't always the best thing to do. Sometimes, it is being still and contemplating God through sacred art. Let's do it together.

St. Pier Giorgio Frassati
At the start of this month, it wasn't just Carlo Acutis being canonised but Pier Giorgio Frassati as well. St. Carlo probably got the lion's share of the attention because of our recency bias but Pier Giorgio deserves no less consideration. The help he gave to the poor should inspire all of us to do what we can for anyone who is poor, in whatever sense we mean that word.

There are some lovely photographs of Frassati on the 'net, but I have chosen the one below because sometimes we can feel that we can't make a difference, that the weight of life is crushing us, that we are, in short, nothing.

And yet, it is not so. To God we are everything. He loves us, has always loved us, will always love us, come what may. If we let Him, He will help us climb to the mountain top - figurative or literal! - and grant us the grace either to stay there even if we also have work to do in the valleys of the world below. So, let's pray to St. Pier Giorgio for his intercession as we climb: that God may grant us the grace to follow in PGF's steps until we reached the same peak as he.
